You had us at 1977

Our Story
We fell in love with Tahoe as kids growing up in the 1970s. For me, camping in a 1970 VW Camper, backpacking through the Sierras, catching brook trout for dinner and eating applets and cotlets as a snack, along with GORP*! Skiing in the winter was what brought my family to Tahoe. Northstar, Incline (as it was called then), Alpine Meadows and Squaw/Palisades - before it was one resort.
My husband was lucky enough to have friends with family cabins in Tahoe and spent some time in summer, growing up. I did not know the joys of Tahoe in the summer until we met. And wow - I was never the same. Hiking, swimming, kayaking, boating, biking.... Never did we believe that someday we could own a place of our own. But here we are and we want to share a taste of our happy place.

Then & Now
Kitchen Inspiration
Harvest Gold circa 1977. What else can be said?
Pretty advanced for the time with electric range and integrated microwave hood!

Dining Room Inspiration
It started with a great open area - dining & living space combined, with a cozy fireplace. Shag carpeting included!

Living Area Inspiration
Wonderful space with cozy wood burning brick fireplace, lots of seating, bright windows, and great, "of the time" decor.

Kitchen WOW!
We opened up the kitchen, while preserving the charm. Open shelves display our favorite vintage finds from the home's past.

Dining Room Perfection
Updated basket light (big inspiration), round dining room table (great for games) and we kept (lucky us) the vintage bar cabinet! And the view! Perfection.

Living Area Cozified
How lucky were we to reupholster the Danish chair and couch that came with the house? And swapped in a gas fireplace for simplicity. Bye bye shag!

Found Treasures. Yes, please!
How can you not be inspired by these amazing house artifacts? The house came furnished, and we saved what we loved. We missed the opportunity to meet the prior, and original, owners, due to the Caldor fire, but we were left with wonderful notes about the house, the bedding (what was clean and went in which room) and of course their wonderful experiences they shared in this little cabin. We felt like we knew them and think of them often while staying here. We hope they would be proud of our take on Rubicon Rewind.
